Biography

Mark Bishop has more than twenty five years of experience as an environmental scientist. He was the technical director of New England Testing Laboratory in Providence, RI. There he was responsible for environmental assessment project management, experimental design, results review and interpretation, laboratory certification, communications and reporting, and analytical process oversight. Over the course of 19 years employment with the company (see www.newenglandtesting.com) he participated in, and provided design, support, interpretation, and oversight services for, countless site assessments, environmental studies and remediation efforts.
Prior to his employment at New England Testing Laboratory, he worked at GCA Technologies as a project manager and technical contributor for efforts under a support contract for the USEPA. This work involved researching and preparing endangerment assessments, developing environmental monitoring methods, and oversight of regulatory compliance monitoring investigations.
He began his career with a contract laboratory in the Boston area. There he was an environmental analyst and later the laboratory manager. His efforts supported regulatory compliance monitoring, drinking water testing, aquatic evaluations, and site investigations. He has also worked as a plant chemist with Boston area manufacturing companies.
He graduated from Boston University with a degree in Chemistry with a focus on environmental analytical techniques. He also has graduate level training in environmental engineering (groundwater, environmental microbiology, waste management and environmental chemistry). He developed two courses for continuing education credits for licensed site assessment professionals in Massachusetts. He has published works in the area of environmental monitoring and bioremediation technologies.
In addition to providing environmental consulting services he is a riparian/riverine researcher with a non-profit watershed management group.
