Analytical Interpretation
Is the site contaminated with coal tar, wood creosote, or fuel oil? Is the spill recent or old? Are the metals concentrations within State limits? If my report shows surrogate recoveries of 12%, should I trust my results? The naphthalene in the VOCs analysis is substantially different from that in the SVOCs analysis. What should I believe? What are the possible interferences in my test, and how can they be reconciled?
Sometimes you need more than numbers to understand and solve a problem. I have encountered thousands of these questions in my career, have developed a sharp analytical intuition, and I have some sound answers.
